Configurator updates

Your configurator looks for new versions by itself and offers them to you. You don’t have to check this page, follow a newsletter or remember anything: when a new version is out, the configurator tells you the next time you open it.

What you get

  • It finds new versions by itself. Each time you open the configurator it checks once whether there is a newer version. If there is, it shows a short note with what’s new and a link to this page.
  • One click to get it. The new version comes as a personal link to the email address you bought with. You click it, download, and open the new configurator.
  • Your work comes with you. Load your my-website.json into the new configurator and everything you filled in is back.
  • For life. Updates don’t expire. How many updates you can take depends on your licence (below).

It doesn’t replace or install itself: a file opened from your computer can’t be overwritten by the browser, so you always decide when to switch — and the old version keeps working.

“The configurator doesn’t need the internet. When it has it, it asks once on opening whether there’s a newer version — it sends nothing about you, and you can turn it off.”

The current version

The current configurator version is 1.0. When a newer one comes out, this page says what changed.

How many updates

Updates are for life, but only for paid configurators, and the number of updates you can take depends on your licence:

  • Basic — 1 configurator update
  • Extended — 10 configurator updates
  • Agency — unlimited
  • Bug fixes are free and never count as an update. They are released as soon as they are ready and carry a third version number (for example 1.4 → 1.4.1).
  • New features come in a release about once a quarter; each such release (for example 1.4 → 1.5) counts as one update of your licence.
  • Guides and articles have their own version number and don’t count as updates.

The guides and articles in the package are free with every valid order number.

How the link reaches you

  • A new version is not downloaded from inside the configurator.
  • You get it through a personal link tied to your order. You ask for it with your email address or your order number, and the link is sent to the email address the purchase was made with — never shown on screen. That way a stranger who knows your order number gets nothing.

The request form opens here together with the first update. Until then there is nothing to update: 1.0 is the current version.

What the check sends — and what it doesn’t

  • Once, when you open the configurator, it fetches one small file from this site, maxitemplates.com/verzia.json. The file contains the latest version number, a few lines on what’s new, and a link to this page.
  • The request carries nothing about you or your site: no cookies, no account, no licence key, and not the page it came from. Like any request to a website, it shows our server your IP address — see the privacy policy.
  • If there’s no connection, or no answer within 8 seconds, the configurator simply carries on. Your work is never affected.

If you’d rather it didn’t check

In the configurator, open More settings at the bottom of the left-hand column and tick Don’t check for a new version automatically. From then on no request leaves your computer. The setting applies to all MaxiTemplates configurators on that computer and browser. You can still check by hand with Check for a new version.
